Because the several hundred million the companies pay for the usage spectrum and the annual fees they pay for rights to the "airwaves" don't pay for that?

So when is the FCC going to do something about the shock of seeing all of those taxes and usage fees that they charge on my bill?

Nah. All we need to do is snag one of those asteroids/meteors that pass (frighteningly) regularly between the Earth and Moon as it goes by.

As horrendous as I find the whole crony system to work, I can't truly get upset over it. It works this way everywhere.

I'm guessing Zuckerberg thinks he's a good negotiator for getting them to cut it in half and the guys at Instagram still can't believe that asking for four times what they wanted actually worked.

Yes. They were singled out for extra screening because (in this case) he had a prosthetic knee replacement that was metal. It sets off the metal detectors every time. He actually loves the full body scanners when he goes to the airports that have them since he doesn't have to waste time with getting groped because of

Queue the enviro-flame wars!

I sort of read that as a joke.

I was thinking Jezebel...

I find myself agreeing with both of you on a few points, but the idea that more cars run red lights than bicyclists is ridiculous. I don't know if I've ever seen a bicyclist at a red light that didn't just look both ways and go if it was clear enough for them.

I can drive as fast/faster than the 18 wheeler and I don't hold up traffic with the 18 wheeler crawling along behind me just waiting for oncoming traffic to clear enough so they can get around me.

I could be wrong about this, and I'm sure I will get lots of responses if I am, but F18s are not as good at handling air-to-air combat situations as F15s. I'm sure they could handle a commercial jetliner in a pinch, but I think they are traditionally better at air-to-ground scenarios.

I'm having a hard time not hating you for making me defend the RIAA/MPAA, but here goes:

Umm, since when has MS ever kept to their own timing roadmaps?

I'm really not one of the grammar and spelling nazis that pop up after articles like this, but damn. Just damn.

I think Costco has these on an every day basis.

Yeah, when I was about that age I had renter's for about $12, but I think it only covered $20-25K. Not sure, but what you have there sounds about right.

I actually like the idea of this because it is hard to find some of these products, and a lot of them are so expensive that buying them before you've even tried it is a hard pill to swallow. I'm always looking for stuff that helps with acne and I have shelves full of crap that doesn't work.

My guess would be that the product suppliers are footing a lot of the bill to be included in the package. It's a more targeted audience for them, which is valuable from a marketing and data standpoint.

What they are giving her is not to replace her belongings. It is simply a temporary measure for those residents to at least not be homeless and without food and clothing until the case is settled and they get the money to replace what is lost.
