It's especially amazing to think there are people out there who own the original wardrobe of From Beyond and probably have zero idea what they have. I kind of prefer thinking that this stuff is being worn and used in blissful ignorance than framed and hanging in some fanboy's den.

This is the best film writing I've seen on this site in a good while. Great work.

I love hearing them play off of YouTube clips and intro questions too much to go that far, but I'm a big fan of the music episodes too. My dream music guest is Eric Bachmann, who seems right up Besser's alley and is a pretty funny guy in his own right.

This is also one where June seems to be the least baffled of the bunch, which is always a delight too.

Post-Apodcastlypse with Eliza Skinner is my absolute favorite, and Teacher's Lounge with Big Grande is up there too. I'm also partial to:

He shaved PFT's tongue with a Harry's razor, for cripes' sake!

improv4humans was pretty stellar this week, and not nearly as gross as I worried a John Gemberling/Brian Huskey pairing might get. The running theme of divorced men eating alone at taquerias paid off all over the place. It was nice to hear Billy Merritt again too. Seemed like he dropped off the radar for a little

It's like a cow's opinion.

My first reaction was "Yay, Matt Gourley!" My second reaction was, "Oh, another one where Lauren's character confronts her stalker on air, ala the Neil Campbell, James Urbaniak and Claudia O'Doherty episodes." My third reaction was, "Eh, those were all pretty great episodes regardless." My fourth reaction was, "Hey,

I don't know that I've heard the HDTGM crew be more throughly baffled and exasperated than they were by The Shadow. The pinnacle was the moment when they enlisted all three hosts, the special guest and two audience members just to attempt to get a basic understanding of what the hell happened in the movie, and failed

I dig the Sugar Shack and the drive-time blues shows and the late weekend hip-hop and electronica shows. It's the only station I'm aware of where "I wish they didn't play quite so much Lazy Bill Lucas" is any kind of a concern.

Even if this type of shady weirdness wasn’t right up my alley, which it decidedly is, I’m happy for any story that gets KFAI some national press. KFAI is a goddamn treasure.

I have a number of Archie comics where the characters meet or reference the folks behind the curtain. In the late ‘80s, Rich Margopoulos name-checked himself fairly regularly and made publisher Victor Gorelick a recurring character. The best example is the story where the Archie cast storms Gorelick’s office to demand

Mike Mitchell was positively aghast at that phrase. I hope Besser’s stash of Grandma correspondence doesn’t run dry anytime soon.

I came in expecting some harsh shade thrown at Andrew Ti and I did not walk away disappointed.

Wild Horses on Improv4Humans is always gonna be a good time, but holy cow, Matt Besser reading antisemitic letters and diary entries from his late grandma pushed this week's show to an insane level. Besser's commitment to using anything and everything that crosses his path as fodder for his art is downright

I've seen Vanilla Ice ironically, Good Charlotte accidentally (or possibly Sum 41, I'm sincerely not sure which), Better Than Ezra reluctantly and Michael W. Smith enthusiastically - twice!

How do those things get made, anyway? Someone oughta start a podcast about that.

In this appearance he reminded me of any number of brilliant musicians/artists I’ve met who are profoundly entertaining for an hour or so at a party, and then you start looking for an excuse to go talk to somebody else because you’re starting to get genuinely weirded out.

Even though I’m a big fan, there are times when the layers of archness and irony on Hollywood Handbook get exhausting for me. That makes me treasure the moments when the guys - Sean in particular - let some genuine self-doubt and melancholy seep into the show all the more.
