Watching the video, it seems that uncontrolled body roll is the main problem (causing the roof to strike the pavement). I blamed this one on too high entry speed, too high slip-angle, grippy tires and a high center of gravity.

Came here to say that. People think “slamming” their car on cheap coilovers is the best way to improve handling. In reality its all about balance.

No, but I’ve got tons of photos. I’ll set something up eventually, but it’s going to be a while. Have only sort of started restoring, first task was just to get it living and breathing again!

I put beefy sway bars on my ‘85 Volvo 740. Seemed to make a big difference on the corners, but this was a bone stock 740 with 14" wheels, lots of tire rubber and stock suspension. Firmed things up in the body roll department, but without making an overly stiff ride. Seemed fine.

.

People think they want to eliminate body roll, when they actually should be more concerned with CONTROLLING body roll, especially in transitions. The vintage racers suspension set ups are actually PERFECT for modern cars. Medium spring rates and control body roll with shocks and sway bars.

McMaster is not a civilian. He has a specific chain of command to follow, especially if he wants to keep his job.

Isn’t that the whole point of democracy, if your boss is acting like a tool?

hm

The power gains on a GTI tune are nuts. An APR Stage 1 for a MK7 GTI will get you 316 HP and 381 ft-lbs on 93 octane. That will run you about $700. It is so tempting, but I think I would get too many speeding tickets with that much power.

I’m a landlord. As long as you would be willing to repair it all when you are done (or forfeit your security deposit if not), I’m perfectly fine with whatever temporary damage you want to do on my property. It’s my job to give you a livable place, and that’s pretty much it. I don’t have to be the fun police.

As a landlord who has had tenants dig fire pits and allow a dog to dig up most of their yard I want to kick you in the gonads. My tenants promised that they would fix the damage when they left. This was three months before end of lease. Their ‘fix’ was to toss grass seed in the holes and leave. They didn’t understand

Poor lane integrity is a big one for me. Not keeping in lane on the highway, or more often than not ending up in the incorrect lane after a left or right turn. (We all do the latter, but not 100% of the time)

Damn impressive. Mustangs can only crash once. Corvettes can crash multiple times. Scary. Kinda like hornets. They can sting multiple times.

They are not all scary! Mine is cute as a button.

That very measured foot raise maneuver makes me think he’s been through this drill before.

The optics look bad because of the implied cluelessness, but the point of environmentally friendly cars that are more efficient and with less emissions isn’t to outlaw performance cars or stop making them.

The powerful want us to be eco friendly, so they don’t have to.

Yeah, I’m sure they have so many regrets about choosing the engine that better suited their aims with the car & powered them to a victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Go back to yelling at a cloud.
