If I was Adult Swim, I’d just bite the bullet and cancel the show. I know people like to point to “impressionists on TikTok,” but voice acting requires more than doing an impression of someone else. This is without a doubt my favorite fantasy series hands down. I revisit it ever five years or so, and I find and regift the original novels in used books stores all the time. I literally gave someone the compiled books TODAY.

Also the series started strong but became weaker as it went along. I don’t think there was even a real conclusion to it all, it just sort of petered out.

This was one of my favorite series for a long time and one of my favorite works by Zelazny. But truthfully I was young and it was long ago supplanted by Lord of Light, Jack of Shadows, and the beautifully flawed Creatures of ... Light and Darkness. Hm, just now seeing that pattern.

The Tanya storyline in season 2 didn’t do much to convince me that keeping a holdover from a previous season is a good idea. Her plot was thin at best and in a lot of ways cheapened a character that had a decent arc in the first season.…
