Yeah...if she was a friend of mine, I'd invite her bra shopping. "The band is supposed to do the heavy lifting, Lena, not the straps. It's more comfortable that way, too."
They more or less turn them inside-out, don't they?
Out of curiosity, are there differences in the patterns of domestic vs. protected species that one could look out for?
Apparently, yes:
The more I think back on her previous events' choices, the more I think she really needs a better stylist. There's 'quirky' and then there's 'I never learned how to pick clothes that look good on me'.
I have to admit, I like her a little more for having normal-people teeth, rather than Ross Gellar teeth.
I think I'd feel a lot less charitable about it, if I didn't have a soft spot for sequins. Garish but fun. Overall, I agree with you—she needs a better stylist. She always seems to end up in dresses that aren't quite right at these events.
Ohh, I remember that orange dress. That was stunning on her.
Kim, you deserve so much better than this dress. The tailoring is sloppy, the prints are bizarre, and overall it makes me think of something I could slap together in a half an hour from leftover scraps in my sewing room. Burn it and never again listen to the advice of whoever told you this dress was a good idea.
Baby alpaca is sooo nice, especially the baby Suri alpaca. If I knit myself anything with that stuff, I'd have a hard time not walking around with my face buried in it :P
Ugh, you just had a baby. It's okay to not be perfect for five minutes. Own your shape with pride.
But there's a difference between asking, "Hey, what was your experience transitioning like?", and asking, "Hey, what've you got between your legs? Do you still stand to pee, or what?" One is a question that asks about the person, the other is a question that reduces that person to their genitals.
It's lovely. I'm a sucker for yarns with unusual natural fibres. Right now, my husband's Husky is shedding his summer undercoat, and I've been brushing it out religiously and saving it, because I know a woman in the Ottawa area who spins dog hair into yarn. It's not as soft as qiviut (muskox down), but it's very soft,…
If you go to a knitting store, they may have a wool softening bar that takes the edge off even faster. I've never tried one, but I've heard good things about them. I think they're under ten dollars, too, which is nice.
My big thing: Layering with wools. Doesn't matter if it's lamb, merino, possum, angora, or dog. Animal fibres beat the pants off synthetics and cotton for warmth and breathability. Long johns with merino or silk are especially good. This company makes silk longjohns, and they're having a sale.
I bought possum-blend yarn and knit myself a pair of socks with it: Let me tell you, those may just be the warmest socks I own, and they're not even overly bulky.
