Even a bracelet-length or 3/4 length sleeve would be a good nod to the time period. And agreed, a more off-the-shoulder neckline would help that pattern from totally overwhelming the rest of the garment.

This is a difficult hemline to work, so I can see why people might have been turning up their noses at it, but the criticism that it's 'baggy' seems off the mark. It looks like it fits just fine in these photos—it's just not vaccu-sealed to her *shrug*
