Because if they asked for age group - and someone’s age turned out to be young (13 and below) - they would have to consider the ramifications of collecting/keeping that information without parental consent? This way they can simply collect the information while remaining blissfully in the dark about it.

If I recall correctly, and to make matters worse - it was a salvaged title bike. When he purchased it all my other classmates pretty much were in agreement that he was certain to get himself killed on it (it was also his first bike). Not a bright one, this kid.
No wonder he couldn't stop in time! - his brakes were screeching like crazy before the race started. He needs to get some new pads on that thing quickly!

I don't believe the Wii Remote had a mic, just a speaker. Though I think it was originally intended to have one (the DS lineup has had one, and now the Wii U Pad).
What Nintendo is not saying is that by opening up Zelda's world immensely they very soon discovered that they could get away with having more than one person playing at the same time.
