Youve brought up some really solid plot ideas here. All of this would have made a much more interesting film series that would have actually supported the intentions of the original scripts to a great degree.
So, you’re in charge of a multi-billion dollar IP. The core of that IP is two sets of trilogies, each of which strongly follows a three act structure with its component parts. Most of the world is anticipating a third trilogy, which you are in charge of organizing.
So while I agree with you that JJ Abrams deserves a LOT of the credit for how bad those films are, I disagree in that he DOES get a lot of the flak for it. Everyone pretty much trashes what he did with those films.
