Note that these weapons were already heavily regulated. They required a special license and could only be transported between the owner’s home and gun ranges, where they could be fired legally.

I’m American and I’m fucking elated. Way to go, Canada.

Republicans:

Only it wasn’t hindsight when news first broke.

A flippant statement deserves a flippant answer.

You are thinking too small - 26 million people (based on unemployment figures) have unsustainable jobs during a pandemic. They can all figure it out.

I was told that one day, like a miracle, it will all go away. Was I lied to?

Something tells me that with that kind of attitude, you probably won’t be around this time next year.  But good luck to you.

That’s a ridiculously false dichotomy. It’s been all of 5 weeks. We’re not talking about 5 weeks or forever. We can stay inside for months, if not a year or more.  There are vastly more time intervals between “a few weeks” and “forever”.

There’s growing evidence re-infection rates are fairly significant. Meaning a LOT of people who had it before will get it again. We just don’t know enough right now to say what percentage. Nor do we know enough to say what percent of those could go on to die from the 2nd, 3rd, whatever case they get.

Life is one giant calculated risk and lots of people value getting back to the way it was before more than the chance of getting sick.

You keep posting this crap as if the virus is the only thing we have to worry about. America only has something like 100k ICU beds, and 900K total hospital beds. If even .5% of America goes critical condition, that will overwhelm the system and good luck to you if you get shot or get into a car accident.

I am actually 57, not as old as you might think, and very healthy, but I am not waiting for a vaccine. I am not saying full stay at home, either. But I am not advocating stopping social distancing, and keeping only the essentials available. You are advocating full reopening, which is stupid. Full Stop. Stupid. You

The people who want to see things open back up now are not and face personal economic disaster if this goes on past the end of May.”

There was a study done that indicated had we shut down one week earlier, we’d have cuts deaths from 40K to 20K (at that time). Had we shut down just two weeks earlier, deaths would have gone from 40K to 2K (again, at that time).

So why in the fuck did we shut down to begin with? Why even try to mitigate a disaster? By your thinking, just let everyone get COVID-19, let the weak die, and let life go on calmly for everyone else, with no disruptions to your perfect life.

Tell that to Taiwan and South Korea.  The logistics of that are impossible here NOW, but that wasn’t always true.

The fastest way to real doom and gloom is to go about opening up with no strategy and not taking it seriously.

Are you talking to me?....I work on the front lines. I’m out there trust me. But when I’m not at work I sure as shit am not goin to the beach or any of the million other things you can do that are ignorant. Comparing this to anything pre-coronavirus is very “Pence" or "DrPhil". Also on a side note,...this is what

We are months, if not years, away from normal. Those who think we’ve already beat this, and thus begin loosening regulations and acting irresponsibly, will make the recurrence of the corona virus substantially worse than it was the first time.
