I submit my humble opinion that the only reason The Last Jedi is given so much fellating by certain segments of the moviegoing public is because it’s flanked by two J.J. Abrams flicks. Everything you said, plus more - TLJ has its own laundry list of problems.

The remakes of How the Grinch Stole Christmas are largely superfluous, no matter how well done they are (or not).  Even with Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig, I don’t know how they can top the perfect Barbie movie in Toy Story 3.
