Ooh, I know! They could have made it even MORE relatable and grounded by having the final battle be in...a parking lot. Lots of people have walked through a parking lot! They could even put the parking lot in a famous place, like Alcatraz!
If Robert Downey Jr. isn’t up for something (hell, give him the Lifetime Achievement Award already, for longest running and most richly inhabited character, ever) it will be a travesty. There hasn’t been a movie that’s made as big of an impact on the moviegoing scene since Titanic really, and that one did OK at the…
Well, of course, it’s going to have a huge drop week to week. Was there anyone seriously expecting Avengers Endgame to pull in another $1 billion in receipts in its second week?
Nick - in regards to Nits that Need Picking, specifically:
Although for many people that will be “$0 on $0 of income” which would make filing them fairly easy. Any capital gains wouldn’t be realized until the un-Snapped owner sold the investments, so there wouldn’t be any backlog of that.
I’d love to see one of these “EndGame is awesome and don’t say otherwise supporters” explain away your point about Stark building the last gauntlet with some cogent argument.
Jon’s entire journey has been experiences that show him how bad hereditary rule, feudalism and the Iron Throne are for Westeros and humanity as a whole. I think the show wraps with Jon smashing the Iron Throne to pieces.
I was thinking Grey Worm is an obvious bait-and-switch misdirect, like Hawkeye in Age of Ultron. He’s waving all the right death flags, in fact, he’s waving too damn many of them.
The ending with Jon and Dany felt exactly like the contrived drama the showrunners cooked up for Sansa and Arya at the end of last season before the surprise reveal: it’s not Arya on trial, it’s Littlefinger!
My money is on Martin having a much less clean situation in King’s Landing as the drama is going on up north, but I’m curious if anyone can figure out how he could reasonably get from Point A to Point B with all of those threads.
Bran probably doesn’t care at this point.
It’s even hinted in one of the new Star Wars books... Aftermath? Palpatine specifically was interested in Jakku.
Amazon doesn’t need to hunt for the “big, meaty series” anymore. (Although I’m sure having another in their wheelhouse would be nice.) They bought the rights to the Expanse, one of the best science fiction series. Now all they need to do is have to do is give it the direction and support it needs.
so rey wakes from a dream in the desert in her old at-at home and everything is back to the beginning of force awakens
You’re absolutely correct. There’s a segment of the fandom that is so tired of the sequel trilogy arc being about the Skywalkers, that they’ve made up out of whole cloth this idea that TLJ is revolutionary in saying that powerful Force wielders can come out of anywhere. Like... really? Yoda? Emperor Palpatine? Mace…
I agree 99% with your sentiment, but bait-and-switching Rey’s parentage does nothing to undo “the Force belongs to everyone”. The Force has always belonged to everyone in the movies, the Skywalker family just happened to have had the Usain Bolt of force wielders in their parentage. Was Yoda some two-bit Force user?…
Dave Filoni could easily be the Kevin Feige of Star Wars. The only reason he isn’t is because his entry point to Star Wars was an assumed cash-grab kids’ cartoon. He’s working his way up the ladder, but Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm should have done the smart thing and put him in an advisor/supervisor role now.
This. +1 million
