Previous AAA research found that a majority of Americans (64 percent) do not regularly use their high beams.”

I don’t know about the new one, but a friend’s 2016 Outback with the CVT wasn’t so bad. It sort of “stepped” the CVT ratios, if that makes sense. It simulated gears. Really not a bad experience at all, and much better than most.

Ooh! I’m particularly enthralled with this rear deck lid. Like a much cooler mid-00s Renault.

I was really impressed when I saw in one of these at the auto show last weekend — I loved the green/white and orange contrast on the inside.

I always wondered about the software stuff. Glad to know it was BS, but I’d be happier if I had that cash back, lol.

Oil changes were simple, and I would have done them on my own if not for the fact that I had no place to do them. They were still surprisingly costly (the cheapest I ever had was still over $100). Brakes, tires, alignment (all the time, too, but that’s more DC roads). Endless $1200 software updates (honestly, what on

‘02. The dealer I went to in DC screwed me over on multiple occasions, but others didn’t. Still just pricey to maintain. But otherwise very reliable — never let me down, never had electrical issues with it.

I bought a new MkIV TDI when I got my first job out of college. It was fun, drove like a dream, but had really high maintenance costs. When I started graduate school, it was simply too costly to keep running. It didn’t help that the local DC dealership neglected to put my brakes back together (or intentionally effed

Is this a preview of the S40 and, more importantly, will we get it in the US? Because... gimme. This is a handsome automobile.

I saw this once while driving home from my dad’s house. I couldn’t figure out what was going on.

So frustrating!!!

Ugh. No drink prices is a major pet peeve. I know this is Jalopnik and we should stick to cars but I can’t believe the no-printed-prices-for-alcoholic-drinks thing is even legal. And yet I see it all the time.

There are the weird moments when I’m standing in the store and see one of the weird candies he liked but could never find. And just for a second, I think, ‘oh I should send him a picture.’

I saw this a few years ago near my mom’s house in the Atlanta metro area. The Audi Cabriolet always had a 2.8 V6 in the US, right?

I saw several of these when I lived in Moscow. Not lots, but several. And they always looked just as sad as their original versions in the US.

Like a lot of young kids, I wanted a supercar, like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. Now I wouldn’t want one for anything.

I saw this a few years ago at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art’s Dream Cars exhibit. It might not have been warmly received when new, but it looked pretty great at the museum. I do wonder if perhaps another color other than gray would have helped it originally.

I’m sorry that this happened to you. Being towed is never fun, and it being a car that wasn’t yours makes it even worse. And that it’s work! Even worse. But we all make huge mistakes at work at some point.

Great British Baking Show/GBBO is just the greatest program ever. The theme song alone makes me burst into tears of joy.

We had a 1960 Cadillac (with AC), and it’s vent windows were power-operated. So cool.
