It can all be fun and games but still be a major bummer to lose a fight against a new challenger. Everyone was really excited when Lucario showed up and you blew it. Feels bad even if the stakes are low.

Longtime Smash fan and I got to say that the unlocking the fighters is BS. It was magical back when I was a kid on the N64, had no internet, and there were only 4 truly secret characters. But as someone who is now fully grown and has known months in advance that Ridley is in the game, it’s a major chore to unlock

FFor me -and this might piss people off- it was Red Dead Redemption 2. I say this as some one who LOVED the first game, RDR2 is a long tedius slog of a game that I just put it down and never got back to it once I got to Chapter 4. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful game and there were parts that I really loved but

I love World of Light when it’s just goofy fights that reference other games. Like the Pikmin fights! Red Pikmin is a fight against about 20 or so tiny Incineroars. Or the fight with Ness’s dad. It’s just Snake, but he’s invisible.

I LOVED the Ridley reveal because Nintendo knew exactly what they were doing.

So...it’s a statue for people who hate themselves?

This sucks. I’d watch HGC from time to time since it was a nice way to keep up with the game. But that said, I think Blizzard’s hopes for the HotS e-sports scene were a *little* too high. It just doesn’t have the same high-level appeal or staying power as other MOBAs.

I swear there was some kind of rubberbanding AI at play, because I would slaughter a challenger at low percentages and then the computer would turn on god mode and just dodge/block everything. I ended up just playing K. Rool and using his down throw + forward smash once they hit 50% or so.

Speaking as someone who’s used the GameCube controller since Melee, the GC controller doesn’t really have any advantage over the Pro other than familiarity. I’ve actually come to enjoy the Pro a bit more for its more uniform button design. Some special moves like Dedede’s hammer can be charged while still moving

I love the GameCube controller, but I’m switching to the Pro this time around. Honestly, it’s been working out for me SO much better for me. Plus I don’t have to worry about wires, battery life, or buying adapters!

“You get what you pay for” maybe?

It's Sonic. Can't you tell?

Plus I vaguely remember Square releasing a new Chocobo game, like, every year. They were definitely milking the brand even back then.

A lot of the WoL spirits are genuinely fun little fights! I’d prefer not to have any of the RPG stuff (lol why is there a skill tree in a fighting game?) but it’s fun overall if you’re going into it to do some weird gimmick fights that reference other Nintendo characters. It’s just not my preferred way of unlocking

The auto equip is nice, but like it said up in the article it can get confused and make some weird choices. It’s usually good at making the obvious choices like negating field advantages, but then it’ll be like “this enemy is tough so I’ll give Kirby a seventh jump.”

So far there are 3 ways I know of to unlock characters:

Yeah, having to unlock nearly 85% of the characters is a baffling move, especially with the tag line “EVERYONE IS HERE.” Pretty much every other fighting game has learned that unlocking the actual fighters is kind of BS. It’s really frustrating because the first thing I want to do when I get a new fighting game is to
