Every once in a while I truly LOL. I reserve 'LOL' for those rare instances. This is one of those instances.

I think to be fair GT does have some issues that some people here have described pretty accurately.

I think there are actually far fewer trolls here than people want to think. I was recently on the receiving end of some serious bisexual ire because I made a statement to the effect that in the lesbian community it is becoming uncool to identify as lesbian. This is both true and a statement about lesbian culture, but

This guys language is raw to be sure, but as a gay, I can't say he is that off base really with those statements.

In addition can we stop focusing on specific laws or actions like they mean anything at all to overall homophobia/racism/ect.? For instance, I am sick of hearing about both gay marriage and Barack Obama. Racism is not over because the United States now have a Black president. All the focus on that specific occurrence

"you can't blame a gossip-writer for picking up a gossip story."

Yes and as I pointed out, she has been active in speaking to us, realizing her mistake, apologizing, etc and so she is to be left out of it going further, imo.

She made a post on a separate blog, which I am a part of, and it was read and cited here by Doug. We discussed it over there, but obviously that relatively small blog with it's much smaller community of people who are familiar with each other is not Jezebel proper with it's massive amount of views and random strangers.

A persons sexuality is not gossip fodder. Fuck off with that shit like it's okay to run around speculating publicly on someones sexuality.

Stop continuing the rumor mill by writing paragraphs on who's gay or not and who is outed or in the closet or whatever. It's none of our fucking business. Seriously.

Martin Scorsese loves this stuff* though!

Ah fair enough! That is easier to understand. That I think is a consequence of not having time for discourse. The answer to the question of 'why is calling a cis woman a real girl problematic' is a comparatively very long answer!

Yeah, I don't know enough about the culture on the men's side really either in regards to drag vs ball, although I have had a few drag queens couch surf with me over the years and I've met a lot in bars and whatnot. In my experience it seems like more of a reclamation, like 'these words mean nothing here' when used in

I suppose I disagree with the idea that we should be unconcerned with the negative terms usage based on socioeconomic classes of people. While it's true that disenfranchised trans drag performers have less time for discourse regarding slurs, I don't think it's fair either to assume they don't/can't understand or

"the proliferation of "slut-shaming" has resulted in an inaccurate conflation of "being critical" and "prudishly or maliciously taking issue with female sexuality.""

Basically everyone is screaming:

Dude. Duuuuude. Come off it, you know shit about chefs or cooking if you think this is in any way justifiable.

I guess just be aware that this happens on Jez all the time. If it seems a comment has angrily missed something in the article, this is often what has happened.
