Two thoughts:
None of this should be surprising. Just because musk says space access can be done cheaply doesnt make it so! This project could easily fail

And this email is rather rude and insulting!
So his high -and arguably unrealistic- aims have gone bad yet he wants the workers to make up for it??
How about you put

A satellite internet system is always going to be insanely expensive, regardless what musk says.
Just because he’s had success somewhere doesnt mean he’s right about other things.

I think those modern elements plastered onto what is a very staid shape doesnt work well.
The inside is much better

Meh.I dont mind much if they make cheap short range vehicles or expensive long range.
So long as they make significant progress in their battery research, that’s all that matters. Then we’ll all be winners

Solar panels (those that survive), wind turbine (easy to make),water turbine( same)
Charging isnt hard.Charging quickly and reliably wouldn’t be easy though.
Overall it would be much easier keeping a BEV going than a liquid fueled car.
Off the top of my head the only easy option i can think of for those would be a gas

This is one of those rare cases where musk is technically right.
Impact resistant body and windows would be very useful in an anarchic society.
Dont judge what a car should look like from mad max movies

I noticed that but just assumed americans are wired to think of food

2nd: So will Nissan’s new EVs be good looking and sell well?
-Or will they be like the Leaf ?

I cant believe only six people died. There’s a solid mass of people lining both sides of the track!

Interesting story Ryan! And the comments section as well.
I’ve had the honor(??) of cranking quite a few machines. It’s surprising how some are relatively easy and safe while others seemed to be looking for an excuse to break you.

Does anyone know if the spark advance lever on most early cars made a dramatic difference

I’ve seen much bigger and higher compression motors crank started. Dad’s old Bedford 6t truck was easy to crank start.
I suspect it was more about cost and convenience? Like once the price came down far enough everyone wanted one

That part about plastics (and the vast number of other important products) intrigues me.
I guess in theory we can use oils so long as we dont have left over CO2 at the end?

Liquid fuels made from renewable energy will always be an option. The basic tech is relatively simple and has been around for almost 100 years. You could even make it yourself given some knowledge and equipment.
So high end cars should still have value other than as art.

It’s an interesting question.I wont try to make any

Do you know how much the chinese have influenced Volvo’s current range? Someone there has made good choices.I’m wondering who to give credit

Oh come on that’s clearly dangerous!
Have the screen reversed so you can read it in the (normal) rear view mirror.See?Much safer

I like that this guy wants to mass produce affordable Evs but have doubts about his method. He seems to be saying he’ll have designs and patents that are compelling to manufacturers of affordable EVs? That’s a big claim

BTW it’s wrong to infer musk wants to be the smartest in the room. From everything we hear and read

edit

Clever clickbait Adam for choosing a car that’s absolutley not pretty, but has some likeable features

A braille edition of playboy??? That’s so damn funny.
I just looked it up.From what i could find they DO have nude pictures.Hilarious

Superfund site 🤣. I’m definitely stealing that one
