There is plenty of bloat, but they still put out some good stuff. I’ve enjoyed Unsolved Mysteries, Sophie, Sons of Sam, Tiger King S1, The Keepers, The Innocent Man, Wild Wild Country, Wormwood. Hotel Cecil was more on the bloated, thin side though, so my expectations for this Times Square entry are not particularly

I watched it last night without noting the runtime and was surprised just now to learn it was 145 mins, it really didn’t seem overlong.

What a tragic loss. He was such a talent. Sharp Objects in particular would have been middling in the hands of an average director, but he singlehandedly elevated the material to create something truly special.

Kendall’s confession broke me. Afterwards when Shiv asked him where he wanted to wait and he said “Can I be with you guys?” Reader, I wept. My god. The way this show mines genuine humanity from such utterly irredeemable characters is like nothing I’ve ever seen.

Do you really think the bulk of her readership is trying to avoid spoilers? How does it make any sense to read a review of something you don’t want spoiled?

Oh man this was delightful. Loved the stylish absurdity. And the soundtrack! Good god. And the policewoman had me cracking up at her open contempt for her partner and boss.

It was legitimately terrifying.

Curb is back baby. Last season did *nothing* for me, nor did the premiere of this season. But this makes three great episodes in a row. This one was maybe a bit overlong but still had plenty of laughs.

Loved this episode, more laughs for me than any since at least season 9.

Lift is fascinating because it pinpoints the moment when they very intentionally decided to not be Coldplay (and it was before Coldplay existed). Still a good song that would’ve been a huge hit had they released it at the time.

Yep. The character’s name is Collin and he’s head of security.

I’m just a very straightforward person, Shiv.

Agreed. Plus our politics have become legitimately terrifying to the point where very little of it lends itself to comedy anymore. It’s just such a different environment since 2016. During the Bush years there was Stewart and Olbermann and Moyers, and the rest of the media was jingoistic credulous trash. Then the

One of the best essays I’ve read on 9/11 is the Esquire piece on the Falling Man, which also details what you describe as the images quickly vanishing from the coverage. Just a devastating story.

I’m old enough to remember when the truthers were mostly on the left. Anti-vaxxers too.

“They hate us for our freedoms” was the default assumed rationale by the vast majority of Americans. God but it was a stupid time for that jingoistic bullshit.

People don’t remember it as much as 9/11 but I’ve always thought the anthrax was what really cemented the panic. 9/11 was of course awful and traumatic but the attacks themselves were over in a matter of hours. The anthrax went on for weeks and was just the stuff of nightmares. Every day or two a new letter, in

The most recent season was a sloggggg, by far the worst one.

The soundtrack makes the entire show, just incredible.

This was pretty good but the nonlinear storytelling was annoying and didn’t seem to add any extra dimension. That’s my only real complaint though, it’s still a good binge regardless.
