this is VERY IMPORTANT, ill star this, thanks!

This story is missing the really cool context: this episode all began with one Deviantart image by a Simpsons fan.

This is a good thing, Fandom sucks complete ass, but the justification ModdedInkling gave makes me raise an eyebrow. It was a Star Wars artist wanting their article to be changed to reflect their actual name and not their deadname, nothing related to the name or pronouns of characters.

Seems like this is probably a good thing, but it does feel a liiiiittle bit weird that their example justification is what if we want to misgender/deadname someone, and Fandom won’t let us.

I’d say getting rid of the ads is the biggest win. Fandom wikis are fucking RIFE with ads, so much so that they interfere with the content.

Whooo all valid reasons.

I’ve always heard that the amount requested doesn’t really matter. Ultimately it’s up to the jury to determine liability and the value of that liability. Although maybe the jury inferred ulterior motives based on the high value requested? I dunno.

Don’t you just hate it when you notice how many grammatical errors you made in a post because your piece of shit phone is a piece of shit?

Screen-readers don’t parse embedded media a lot of the time. It’s an accessibility issue.

Yep and a TERF as we can see from her tweets when she wouldn’t stand for Trans Rights. Like come on, it costs you nothing to be an actual human instead of your garbage beliefs.

Taylor was offered 16k for her role in Bayonetta.

It’s fine, and necessary, to have the larger labor and contract conversation about whether VAs deserve residuals, but Taylor didn’t do that. Instead, she used lies and omissions to activate both the Gamers (TM) and the pro-unionization folks simultaneously and point their rage at a studio and a fellow voice actor.

This may not be the reason why Kotaku does it, but if the Tweet is pulled down, it’ll disappear from the story, so having the quote is a good back-up. Also, as a few folks mentioned, not everyone reading the story might be able to see the embed for whatever reason.

they do...she lied about the low pay, only stated what she would have gotten for one recording session, not the total for all the sessions. Read Schrier’s article.

I think it’s both. He assisted in her suicide, but feels guilty because he was going to do it for selfish reasons anyway.

She lied and tried to harness the gamer mob to shit on Hale and sabotage Hale’s turn at the character. Exactly what I’d expect from a thin blue line fascist enlightened centrist from TERF island.

She’s a fashy weirdo. Good riddance.

Per VA union standard pay, its $250 per hour or $1000 per 4hour session.

Helena Taylor being a ‘thin blue line’ terf really doesn’t leave me with any sympathy for her. That’s not to say it excuses blatant exploitation, though I understand the measure of which that actually happened here isn’t very clear cut.

lmao thank you, i thought it was clear this article is mostly a shitpost (rly hoping no one takes my invoking columbus seriously) but i could always use more money to deal w disgruntled gamers, so if the media gods are listening.....!
