People who are hung up on their age are so fucking annoying. Women who are like “oh I can’t tell you my age.” I had a teacher who was all weird about being “old” and as an adult I realized that she must’ve been like 26 at the time. 🙄 

I totally understand that - happened to me too. But then I moved to the south and realized most all well behaved kids learned at a young age to say ma’am. I didn’t know that being raised in Chicago.

Like others have said, it’s an age connotation thing. Although I once said ma’am to a woman and she said she didn’t like it because it made her sound like she ran a brothel. I asked her if she meant madam . Nope. Ma’am. Alright.

I’ve gotten in trouble for using “ma’am” before because apparently it makes some women feel old. I’ve never been sure what to do with that, since “ma’am”, like “sir”, is supposed to be a term of general respect for any adult person, not just for the old people. It’s just good manners.

This is more than likely white women not wanting to be seen as “old” and taking it out on a kid.

Is “Ma’am” on the list of things I can’t say anymore? When did that happen? Because it sounds like you’re telling me that every time I thought I was being polite by calling a woman “Ma’am,” I was actually being an [insert appropriate pejorative term here].

If my son comes home and says he got in trouble for calling a teacher “ma’am” she won’t have to worry. Because when I get to the school that will be the last thing I call her.

John McCain is an American hero and, for all his faults and errors, a decent man who stood for decent politics, and regrets the decision that may have hastened the Republican party’s descent into lunacy. However, look at this and tell me how a lesser man would have handled it.

Let’s pretend that the Civil War had nothing to do with slavery. Guess what, the Confederates were still traitors who killed hundreds of thousands of patriotic Americans. So fuck your traitorous flag. And it is racist as fuck.

Well, crap. Having to make the decision to discontinue treatment is incredibly difficult—both of my grandfathers made that choice, one opting for woo instead of traditional medicine, and the other refusing all treatment, even pain meds. That was horrible to watch, gave me nightmares as a kid. Cancer can be horrific.

As someone who previously lived in Canada, they also have fucking Confederate flags there too. Must have been the war of polar bear aggression 🙄😒

I knew a white woman named Ayesha.  To this day, I’m still shook, as the youths of today say.  Shook.

I’m somewhat conflicted about McCain. Previously, he was somewhat maverick-y and tried to compromise (e.g. McCain Feingold).

She’s playing the same game Trump does - media cycles. Likely she (and he) figure the longer their versions of things stay in front of everyone, the more attention they get and the more they “win”. That is, if she just dropped the big bombshell, then it might blow up for 24-48 hours until Trump does or says something…
