GM’s Mary Barra explained that the doing away from Carplay/AA is due to their control over the vehicles interface and software, and GM didn’t want to give up control to another company, and essentially be hostage to those providers down the road.

My guess is that people are desperate to get their flights, and willing to pay to ensure their travel out of desperation. So if they continue “having problems” and refunding ticket prices, they can rebook those same people on flights for exorbitantly higher prices, and the people will pay because they’re forced to.
