As a teenager, I watched my dad eat ONLY bacon eggs and cheese in pursuit of weight loss on Atkins.

If it’s not obvious, 90% 0f these trend pieces get written because some PR agency convinced the author that a trend featuring the agency’s products exists. Convincing reporters to cover “the latest trend in [brewing coffee/getting to work/wiping your butt]” is literally the entire reason for their existence.
