The point that I want emphasized everywhere is the difficulty of accessing citizenship, even if you’re here legally. I’ve heard way too many people talk about it like it’s going to the DMV or (imagine how someone might reference this connection, if you can) to the welfare office.

According to the Times, the bill’s supporters argue it would “offer much-needed relief to small banks and credit unions in parts of America that have been struggling under regulations that had primarily been aimed at the biggest banks.”

That last one sounds great.

Former journalist here. Wolff is a snake. I don’t mean this as a criticism. More as an obvious fact. It’s a known thing for anyone who has done a modicum of background on the guy. Even if half the stuff in the book is fabricated, that they let him within 10,000 miles of the White House, let alone free range access

I actually noted the electoral college in my reply (I’m aware how it works though thank you (honestly) for going to the trouble to write it out). I also noted he lost the popular vote (I’m aware there are more of you and ties into why I like these sites).

This. He has been pretty clear about it in interviews.

From what I understand, he pulled it off mainly because he wasn’t afraid to, and completely willing to, burn bridges and sacrifice his access to information from within the White House.

He brought up Norway because he had just met with the Norwegian ambassador. Nevermind that Norwegians have no interest in moving to this shithole, considering how rich and successful they are.

I recall reading a book some years ago. I don’t recall the title but it discussed general societal shifts. It went on to discuss what happens when one power starts waning and cedes to another. Often there is a nasty transition period since the former dominant power doesn’t want to give up their influence as easily.

Or that they’d be search lights.

Basically, living in a poor country does not make you a bad person.

Firstly, you know that Democrats will reward Paul Ryan, because they are spineless cowards.

They also conveniently ignore how Haiti actually GOT the problems it did. You don’t get to go into another country, take a shit, walk out and call it a shithole.

From an outsider? It’s the country you’ve always been. Ask any woman or POC. The veneer has just been pulled back and the large number of you who are great people are horrified at what you’ve been living with and are now roaming free. Roaches. An infestation.

I find myself more and more hoping my belief that there is no afterlife, and certainly not one that confirms to traditional Christian beliefs, is completely wrong.

This is the country we’ve always been. We got really good at hiding it for a while, but now that Trump is here, people just don’t bother hiding it anymore

Smug alert!

Open ended question: is this the country we’ve really become? Seems to me that for well over a year the most disgusting, most bigoted, utterly shitty people have been calling all the shots while the rest of us seem to be powerless to stop it. There seems to be zero consequences for these people and their actions.

Oh, this thing with the Democrats rolling over to the Trumpsters and handing over concessions to half-solve the Dreamers problem makes my blood boil! Grow a spine, people!
