I needed this this morning, thank you.

I highly recommend this article on the history of the “women vote” that was in the New Yorker a few weeks ago: http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/…
I couldn’t even get through all of the quotes. It’s so creepy and badly-written and like something a 13 year old boy would write and think he was being profound. It’s gross as hell and I can’t wait for this terrible week to be over.
You want to outlaw abortion and not provide free contraception, Republicans? Then I want free daycare, paid parental leave, free diapers, school lunch support, and a whole host of other family services that you outright refuse to support.
What always seem to be left out, to me, is that if vaccines are so dangerous, why aren’t ALL of the kids that got them affected?
This bill includes both moms and dads, same-sex couples, and parents who adopt. At this time, it does not cover people that need to take time off to care for a sick relative. As a resident of San Francisco (without children and not planning to have any anytime soon), while it’s certainly not perfect, I’m pretty proud…
So, full disclosure, I could not watch the whole thing, but I very much get a vibe that she is trying to copy Rihanna’s “Bitch Betta Have My Money” video. Anyone else?
I am so sick of this shit. Does anyone know any good ways to get involved in fighting this? I already donate to the National Women’s Law Center and PP, but I’d like to volunteer my time. Unfortunately, I live in San Francisco, where we (luckily) don’t have to deal with this nonsense. Any and all suggestions greatly…
It’s possible that the LSD exacerbated an underlying mental illness. A boy on my mom’s street growing up was schizophrenic, took acid, and ended up murdering his own father.
I live in SF and I fully agree with this. Studios in the city start at $3k (even if you get out halfway to Daly City- closer to $3500 in the more downtown spots), and more and more parts of Oakland are getting closer to that. Unless you want to live waaaay outside the city, you’re looking at a huge chunk of your…
It also neglects one of the most damaging things to your skin and the easiest thing to realistically avoid: not wearing sunscreen. Your skin will look better longer and you will decrease your chances of skin cancer. Win-win.
Only tangentially related, but I read a great article today about how the Scandinavian countries are so much better at providing welfare for their citizens. We could learn a lot from their approach and do better by these children and their mothers, but sadly, this is America and we aren’t great at admitting when we…
Forcing doctors to lie to their patients has to be some violation of the Hippocratic Oath or (hopefully) a law. These are the people that these women are trusting to present them with factual and unbiased medical information, and for them to be mandated to lie to serve some political agenda should be illegal.
You just summed up Trump’s entire platform re: ISIS
There’s a joke to be made about people at Sea World getting tortured in a small glass enclosure, an environment they are not suited to be in, and needing to be released back into the wild, but it’s Monday and I’m tired.
No, my whoring around in college was completely attributable to other factors :P
My mom had me get the Guardasil vaccine as a teenager, and I’m eternally grateful to her for that. Not only has it prevented me from getting a strain that causes cervical cancer (hooray for a decade of clean pap smears), it’s also kept me from getting one of those fun strains that cause warts. Your kids are going to…
Take what useful parts, if any, I’ve got left for transplant. Cremated. Either kept in a lovely urn or spread somewhere nice and pretty. Honestly, whatever has more meaning for the people left behind because they’re the only ones that it will matter to at that point.
