I believe they’re gonna punch through to the next building. The new St. Paul place was the first priority. But they do takeout now, so that’s good!

Yeah. I’m not defending theft. (Some can consider jewelry frivolous, but to me, it’s in-line with stealing from an art gallery - it’s just a lot more sparkly and portable. Someone put time and effort into creating wearable, sparkly art, and the artist needs to be paid.)
It really, really is.
Nope, not at all. I’ve pointed out in a couple of other places around here that finding incontrovertible proof that will hold up in court is difficult for hate crimes. Or, sometimes, hate crimes are simply not prosecuted at a high enough level.
That is Revival, a restaurant here in the Twin Cities. (The chef/owner was born here, moved to the Carolinas with his family when he was a child, ultimately came back here and after his first successful restaurant, he realized: there was no real fried chicken here. It was so popular, he had to open a second branch. If…
It occurred to me as I read this that this little old lady is smarter, craftier, far more interesting, and waaaaaaaaaay better at her job than the current resident of The White House.
I was doing some Googling, and these are the past five national costumes. http://www.channel24.co.za/The-Juice/News/5-other-south-african-national-costumes-worn-at-the-miss-world-pageant-20171017
Urbanski has always been facing a murder charge - I believe there’s security camera footage if I remember correctly that pretty much made that unavoidable.
ETA - according to an earlier article he was charged with “first- and second-degree murder and first-degree assault.”
This was such fab news when it hit the wires a few days ago. Made me very happy. (And yep, I donated, and will again if they need more money next year.)
I did NOT understand the point of the boycott. Mostly because Twitter fucking runs in the red anyway - it’s not like a product boycott would do anything. Twitter follows and retweets are not actual currency.
I dug into my GIF archives to find the blinking-eye GIF I think that is necessary more and more often in this space. Because two blinking eyes is just not enough:
I worked in the Internet industry for a decade - I can count the black people I worked with on one hand with fingers to spare. (And I don’t think I ever worked with a single black geologist during my time in that field.)
It never, EVER ceases to amaze me that people think that “American” is a language, or that the United States actually has an official language. (An informal national language, yes, but it’s nowhere near official.)
No there can’t, but I didn’t want to be rude and hog them all when there are so many to go around. The one of him drinking out of the tea cup was a new one for me.
On the original article, I winnowed down a list of about 8 Prince eye-roll gifs to just two.
Urschel played for the Ravens for three seasons. However, he retired to save his brain, since he’s a brilliant mathematician. He is also an incredible chess player.
I know what you meant, but you said that and I automatically flashed to John Urschel. (Though he seems to have been quiet on Kap/Taking a Knee since leaving the NFL and focusing on his PhD.)
I may have been making a very similar facial expression while reading this article.
Sorry - on a more serious note? As others have noted, pretty much never when it concerns a person of color in any posture that might make a white person nervous.
