Yes the bots, is a mechanic to prevent too much of losing streak. Lots of game now use this either in MOBA or BR game. If you lose too many matches, they throw you into a bot match to basically give you a win. That way you are more inclined to play longer. Basically a tactic to keep you invested into the game.

Fortnite does the same for your first few matches. More recently Pokemon Unite also does the same, hell if you are in a losing streak, I think after 3 lost, you next match will be against bots. (yes even in ranked matches!)
