What is humiliating about it, if you have never done drugs, despite growing up in a neighborhood where it may be the norm, is that the assumption is that you must be scamming the system because you need aid. It's another way of humiliating the poor, because the assumption is of guilt, not innocence.

If they want to help people, then just offer it, but wasting money on a drug testing program is just a waste of money and an invasion of privacy.

Christ on a cracker, it took a long time to find a comment that made sense. I want to run through this thread shouting POVERTY IS NOT PROBABLE CAUSE.

I've only been tested for one job and it was a terrible experience. The people at the testing place treated me like I was already guilty even though it was the policy to drug test all new hires and it wasn't like they suspected me personally of being on drugs.

Why do only poor people who get government money have to take a drug test? Why not oil executives who get subsidies? Why not farmers? They get subsidized heavily. How about Boeing or Lockheed executives when they get lucrative contracts?

Quick note to the rest of the country: these states are already receiving more in federal subsidies than they pay in taxes. And now they're implementing a very costly program that is, more or less, useless considering less than 2% of welfare recipients do drugs.

Guess who is going to pay for that? Not the state of

I mean, is the conception that drug addicts are just swimming in wealth and that's why they're still addicted? People will chemical dependency do all kinds of insane, unhealthy, dangerous things to get your hands on the drugs. It doesn't mean you have money or resources that could be better allocated elsewhere, it

Word. Also, welfare's primarily meant to protect poor children. Kids get no say over whether their parents use drugs, and it's horrific if a child doesn't get dinner because the government found out mommy smoked pot.

Your company is not need-based, though. They have a vested interest in making sure nobody is running the company or dealing with customers or whatever while high out of their goddamn minds.

People need to realize this is not about saving money. It's about giving a handout to their friends who run the testing companies.

Because people who are addicted to drugs shouldn't be able to eat, right? Really, the best thing for everyone is to deny them any and all resources that might allow them to get help and get better.

Let's be clear, it's not possible to work 60+ hours a week and be there for the home stuff. Maybe once and a while if you're the boss you can arrange your schedule to be there but you aren't doing the daily after school pick ups, the homework, etc. It doesn't matter if you're working three jobs making minimum wage

Nope. Sorry. When thinking of getting a dog, one of the first things any responsible wanna-be pet owner should be doing is a little bit of research about what breeds are good for your lifestyle. If you can not provide a dog with the exercise it requires, then you should not look to purchase or adopt that breed. It's

Black men have problems of their own granted.

Some of those "men's issues" you listed aren't even real anyway. For instance:

"The concept comes from founder Steve Young, who wanted a growler (a jug that you hook up to a tap and store alcohol in) to keep fresh for more than a few days."

I'd love to live every year as an excuse to travel and eat expensive foods.
