I don't understand at all making the head demon an ex-druid. The demons were a type of being, not a political faction. The evils in Sword and Wishsong were corrupted humans, but the ones in Elfstones weren't
Seriously, I can't tell if he or Goodkind is the bigger hack. Brooks has few ideas and steals few ideas, while Goodkind steals every idea in his books.
Given that it was revealed in the first book, before any of the events of this show, I don't see how that can be "too soon"
