Not attacking those things, but recognizing that someone with the privileges of being wealthy and powerful is not going to be harmed by jokes. And let’s be clear here, talking about how she makes eyeliner out of lies does not constitute joking about her physical appearance, so fuck off with that.

She wasn’t even punching up.

Having worked with these kind of people, it is more often than not about “right and justice” but “access and celebrity.”

My first day of J-school (I know, I know. I was young. I needed... to spend?... the money...) some doofus sits next to me and goes “One of these days I’m going to be sitting at the White House Press

If you heard the smokey eye, Aunt Lydia, or softball coach jokes as jokes about her appearance, that says more about you than it does about Michelle Wolf.

I also find genuine catharsis in Angry Albert, because his writing gives in to the unbridled rage that I fight every single day because I know and love Trump supporters. They are my family, and I cannot stop loving them because of their political opinions, nor will I spend energy constantly pissing into the wind

It’s all a game to these people. Cillizza views Trump and his Goon Squad the same way the Pelicans view the Warriors. Sure, they’re the opponent for a little while, but after it’s all over we should be cordial.

Someone should remind Maggie Haberman that her newspaper was singlehandedly responsible for disseminating, with none of the fact checking that they were supposed to do, all of the propaganda that brought us into a war with Iraq and cost a half a million Iraqi lives. For the mouthpiece of Judith Miller’s former

Fuck Maggie Haberman.

She is awful.

Punching up is not bullying, it’s trying to stop the guy up top from stepping on your fingers.

“Watching a wife and mother be humiliated on national television for her looks is deplorable ... All women have a duty to unite when these attacks happen and the WHCA owes Sarah an apology.”

There is a lot of gross implications in what Mika said. It sounds like if a woman does what society expects they will be protected. Frankly, if that is the case it doesn’t apply to all women who are wives and mothers.

So none of these journalists demand an apology from Trump when he says seriously horrible things? Do you call him out he doesn’t have a sense of decency or purpose about his job?

Agreed. I did not interpret the “Aunt Lydia” comment as a comment on appearance at all. Maybe they haven’t seen “Handmaid’s Tale” and just Googled “Aunt Lydia” after the dinner and made their own assumptions?

Remember, people:

Michelle Wolf was calling her a liar and a gaslighter. That is all true. She would fit right in at with the other aunties in the Handmaid’s Tale. Frankly, I’m disgusted by all the women rushing to her defense. She is not the one that needs to be defended.

Sanders should be so lucky to have any association with the incomparable Ann Dowd. The similarities between her — a humorless, true believing martinet — and Aunt Lydia, was a sharp and funny take.

Christ, these journalists are just falling over themselves to defend SHS, latching onto a throwaway joke about eyeshadow in their eagerness to keep their places at the Trump feeding trough.
