All I can say is that I am living in the most amazing time. I’ve been reading Marvel (and DC) comics since 1969 and never - NEVER - did I think I would see my heroes faithfully reproduced on the big screen, let alone become one of the biggest and most popular movie franchises ever.

So, just this very weekend I (a white lady) had my hair PETTED in a WAL-MART by an assholes like her. My hair is dyed a non natural color and somebody thought it was ok because “it’s so pretty!”
I think they’re fair game for anyone to beat the shit out of them.
“Now you’re a racist if you touch a black person’s hair because you think it’s pretty”

uh, no, honey, you’re a racist if you touch a black person’s hair without their permission because you feel like you’ve just got a white right to do whatever you want with this entire other human person’s body
Ah, yes. North America, that noted historical “homeland” of white people...
A lot of people are attributing this to Trump-era political focus, but I think another important factor is that Fallon is a hack comedian and sycophantic interviewer, whereas Colbert is actually good at his job. That might also be part of it.
But the white people who induce the most skepticism in me are the lone ones I see at predominately black spaces.
First and foremost, at least for me, would be consistent characterizations. They have sacrificed it to serve whatever their immediate plot needs are for too long. People swing wildly between total psychopaths and angelic goody two shoes within a couple of episodes. They also go from competent survivors to complete…
Exactly my thoughts.
Yeah, because every day of my adult life (and a decent portion of my teenage years) I’ve tried to conduct myself the best I can. I’ve held employment and put my nose to the grindstone and tried to be a good person to all those around me.
Things around this joint weren’t a problem until a large enough mass of white folk started falling through the cracks and the internet meant it it couldn’t be papered over easily.
