Clearly they blew their entire R&D budget on the sweet ATV in the tiny bed. This is abominably ugly, quite possibly the ugliest concept truck I’ve ever seen. This gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘green-lit’ for production, nobody sober could possibly have been involved in the design of this.
That’s totally fair... I suppose I was only thinking of the top of the line model and not even considering the mid tier it lacks. That said I feel like most luxury models are the entry trim because most people aren't as discerning on power as you are... I see far more 2.0t Audi's than anything else in their engine…
There’s no excuse to deliver a bunch of unreliable press cars. It’s literally the bare minimum to ensure the press cars keep running throughout the test. They flunked a totally game-able test.
The truly sad thing is it seemed like they nailed it for the most part on the engine and suspension, it’s the damn electronics that are fully integrated that have caused most of the issues I’ve read about. If they’d kept the engine ECU separate from the rest of the systems it would probably be fine.
Which is sad because it only had to meet the low expectations that BMW has set, because that’s who would have cross shopped it. I thought to myself “it can’t be that unreliable” but after reading 5+/7 articles saying the press car they got broke down or the ECU bricked itself I really couldn't even make that argument…
My sister who is far from a Jalop loved this conecpt and was excited to buy one 2 years ago, after the delays she ended up going with a Nissan Rogue AWD. That gives you an idea of who the target market is for this -- people who want some utility from their vehicle and like the idea of a truck but don’t need to tow.
I felt bad about my ‘77 Fiat with a never worked over engine burning a quart per thousand miles, like huh, maybe my rings are going, until I saw BMWs ‘tolerable’ oil consumption ratings. Even better, going to the factory 20W (basically diesel oil) on the Fiat dropped it to 1qt/2k miles.
Someone actually brought one of these out to the last AutoX I went to, sounded Divine, driver couldn’t manage to get within three seconds of the Fit someone brought though. To be fair the Fit driver is a beast and I think it was the Mazzy driver’s first time... And God forbid he push it and risk hitting a cone!
Have had in Hawk HP+ pads for about a year now on my DD, my gold wheels are black and they squeal like an entire farm of pigs but damn if they don’t stop the car on a dime.
I don’t think it’s any particular speed or degree of acceleration. It’s a feeling.
I thought I was the only V20 fan! That's kinda cool there's a following now. A V6 with a set of coilovers and the rare 5 speed could be a lot of fun I'd imagine. And truly built to last forever. Mine was a DX with the 6cyl, but the slushbox killed a lot of the fun. Still ripped for it's era.
Yeah, the 4cyl closed the gap quite a bit by 1990, I want to say my Toyota had 160hp out of the 2.5L V6, not bad for it’s era, but the 4cyl was pretty capable for that era with 130hp and only weighed about 2800-3k lbs based on trim. The 4cyl would be vastly easier to work on and maintain, so it might be a better used…
I’m giving you a star ‘cause you got ratio’d to hell on this post and it’s not your fault... I’m sure you wouldn’t hit that rock, just pointing out that apparently a lot of jagoffs that definitely shouldn’t be driving big SUVs apparently do, which should terrify everyone. Frankly there should be a different driving…
The point is nobody wants you running over their child or dog because you’ve got a 3‘ radius blind spot on the passenger side and you’re not trained to drive a giant vehicle.
I owned a 1990 V6 wagon with a Toyota installed tow package. Growing up family used it to tow a 18' Bayliner inboard/outboard, car was a champ and always yanked it right out of the water without complaint. Took it on a road trip to a rocket launch at black rock (dry lake bed) as a teen and got it up to 120. Got…
My first vehicle, a 5 speed Mazda B2200, didn’t have a tach. I was a little blown away when I was finding a buyer and the guy doing the test drive ran second up to about 40... Like huh, I didn’t even know the truck had the power he found. I was probably shifting it at 4000 rpm or less the whole two years I owned it.
My wife is an excellent driver now. I’d like to claim some credit but my input has basically been limited to teaching her not to come to a near complete stop before turning right and multiple failed attempts at teaching her to drive manual. On the latter it was her loss for the 4 years she spent driving a beat up base…
This show continues to only proceed by flicking it’s own characters’ motivations in the nuts. Last episode they needed to forment some internal drama so they have the whole village completely ignore significant threats to Lydia, and Aaron and Daryl just completely ignore the behavior of the three evil stooges. Aaron…
That’s a fair criticism I’d say, it definitely feels overproduced, but it’s at least not completely dull like the last record.
