This is really going to screw things up in Canada. Currently we follow the EPA standards, but have only done so as to align with tighter emission standards coming out of the US over the years. If the US suddenly lowers those standards we’d have to get political agreement to follow suite, something unlikely to be taken…

Bought one with 38,000km, by the time I sold it 1 YEAR LATER at 80,000km I’d already had to replace a rear wheel bearing, the paint was pealing off the roof, the interior was falling apart... but man, it was a blast to drive.
Oh I have thought the same, or even just throwing the twin-turbo V6 from Ford into the Vics. Already gives 100 more hp and has way better fuel economy than the old 4.6L modular.
They are actually doing what you’re asking for. The Suburban’s and especially the Crown Victoria’s were horrendous on gas compared to the new Explorer. So the new explorer already gets better mileage than what its replacing and has increase rear crash protection for highway stops. Wouldn’t doubt that these new…
