Of course Paizo is continuing course - they would be dumb not to. Wizards handed them a golden opportunity, they’d be foolish to waste it.

Well, I think we won. Need to see how the dust settles before I’m sure.
And we got “Actual Reporting” on I09 again!
The OGL has ben here for 23 years, and there’s never been a serious problem of offensive content. The worse I can think of is Mongoose Publishing publishing a couple off-color sex-based “comedic” supplements back in the early-mid 2000s*. They are incredibly cringy and immature, but they’re also clearly jokes, and…
You are probably right, but it might also be too late for WotC to not suffer some serious consequences. Paizo just sold an 8-month stock of Core Rulebook for PF2 in 2 weeks. These people now have the corebook, have started reading it. Will they just leave it on the table and go back to D&D? Some, sure. But other might…
The thing is that the whole excuse there was driven by the Star Frontiers eugenics remix fiasco, but to my knowledge that was never really an issue because that was driven by IP theft, which Hasbro’s lawyers could win with their hands tied behind their back, and the OGL was not to my knowledge in play. So the one…
Wow Linda. You took us for the whole ride. Broke the story. Covered the story. Now watch as the masses are for once victorious and probably in significant part because you blew the story up to a wider audience at exactly the right time (and kept on it!).
Unfortunately for them, this was one of those times when it was going to be seriously inconvenient for lots of people.
punk-asses tryin’a pull some shit on a bunch of rules lawyers
For now. And I doubt fans/players will forget. They destroyed a huge amount of trust the community had in them and it’s going to take years to rebuild it.
“...and the Ancient Evil is defeated, and slumbers once more. Yet, one day, it may again awaken, to spread dread and darkness upon the lands of the living once more.
The crime in this version isn’t really in the OGL; it’s in the SRD, which takes formerly open stuff (owlbears, magic missile) and makes it closed.
No.
Ah, yes, that Star Frontier news. The one that barely made a blip outside of niche TTRPG circles, and which, unless I’m mistaken, has nothing to do with the OGL. The playtest does not mention the OGL anywhere, nor do it seems to be using the SRD rules in any way. So changing the OGL would not in any way affect that…
I’m still not convinced we need a new OGL. This whole “OGL 1.a doesn’T allows us to clamp down on offensive content” still doesn’t work for me. As I said the other day - when has offensive OGL content ever been a major problem? Can you find hateful OGL content if you dig deep enough? Sure, most likely, but you have to…
Yeah, I agree it SOUNDS really good. But Wizards broke our trust pretty blatantly, especially if you also follow the Magic side of the company, so it will be very hard for anyone not to be suspicious.
Protests work. Advocacy works. Imagine what we could do if we applied that to something more vital than a toy company’s greed.
Yeah, that totally tracks and makes sense. Just on a logistical and legal sense.
On the topic of feedback.
