Except the action was terrible. You would think it would at least be on par with the original film. What else is there? The plot was very hard to follow at times, acting was so-so.

I think I read the first 5 or 6 of these before giving up. It’s like watching Dragonball Z, so much filler, nothing ever happens.
Under The Shadow (Netflix last time I checked) is great. Set in Iran shortly after the revolution during the Iran/Iraq war. Definitely a slow burn, the tension just keeps slowly ratcheting up the whole film.

I just started reading these myself, late to the party. They are probably the most “modern” fantasy I have ever read which is pretty amazing since they are now 5o years old. The world feels very lived in and rich. Every page just oozes culture.
