First, even if Abrams ultimately came just short, I think she did a great job just by energizing people and showing what was possible. 49% seems high for a black female Democrat in the deep south; maybe in 2022 she’ll be able to push it over the line.

On the bright side (it’s slim, but it’s something), they did pass the referendum on restoring voting rights to former felons, so the number of legally disenfranchised voters just went down by well over one million.
