As an interjection in a conversation about her work, no less.

Yeah, and a friend of mine made that joke about tampon sizing in conversation last week. It’s not stolen; it’s obvious.
There’d better be one with magic. I understand from the perspective of the show that this isn’t practical to film, but in our fictional world there are much cooler uses for this technology than playing in real-ish places with humans. I want to go on adventures with shockingly life-like talking animals that look like…
Am I the only one who uses the descriptions to figure out what episode I’m on? This comes up a lot jumping from platform to platform or on network sites that don’t remember it for you. I really appreciate episode descriptions that are cryptic enough that they don’t spoil what you haven’t seen but specific enough that…
Nah, physical trauma like that would pose too great a risk to the pregnancy. They’ll hold back on the maiming until she gives birth.
Like Alexis Denisof on Dollhouse!
Sorry for being snippy. I really am baffled though. Would Luke even expect fidelity with her trapped in this hellscape they couldn’t have imagined when they got married? Would that be a reasonable thing to expect when it’s so likely she will live a short life full of suffering and they will never see each other again?…
The handmaids are given to very high-status men, men who helped create Gilead. I think we can assume their wives were either in on it or OK with it, since a few years ago they could have just left their husbands.
What the fuck? She still will most likely never see Luke again. She could be returned at any minute to a life of rape and torture, devoid of human connection. Who could begrudge her a little fleeting pleasure? I knew people were serious about monogamy, but jfc.
She may not have had much power in Gilead, but she worked to bring about Gilead back when she lived in a world where women had power. Like Serena Joy, she’s feeling some buyer’s remorse about the society she created, but she is absolutely culpable.
They like doing things the old-fashioned way.
I was really surprised in this episode when he handed her the keys (and then the gun). I expected him to exercise control over her, but he treated her as an autonomous person, even though he was absolutely right that hiding out was the only reasonable choice.
I watched this episode in suboptimal lighting, could not see the blood or bullet holes, and found that scene tremendously affecting with just the nooses and the shoe, so I think your theory holds.
OMG what no it’s so much fun! Don’t let the discussion of the serious elements convince you that this is not a show about intrigue and rivalry and zingers and murder and a dominatrix wearing a pirate hat. It might not be to your taste, but I can’t imagine you would actually find it tedious.
Yup. Not that a striking physical resemblance is the most important part of biopic casting, but I do not see it. They have such different faces! Maybe it would work a little better if I didn’t already know what both of them look like.
I loved Crashing (the UK Crashing), which she wrote, and I’m surprised it hasn’t gotten more attention since it’s on Netflix. I’ve just started Fleabag, which I am not quite as charmed by so far.
Just as no one promised you you would never hear people complain.
Do you have any idea how socially isolating it is to never eat out or at other people’s houses? Everyone I know who has celiac does a lot of research on restaurants and then crosses their fingers and hopes they won’t get sick. But I guess we should all go live in a cave with the other inconvenient people because…
I had to make sure Upstate NY was represented in these comments, but I see you’ve got it covered.
She’s one of three main characters. Give it a try! It’s fun.
