Yellow Springs, where he lives, is a tiny tiny town whose population is part conservative farmers and part (large part) full on hippies. It is one of the loveliest places to spend a day that you'll ever find (not that I'm biased toward hippies or anything …) and one of my all time favorite places.

Ugggh eye injuries. Thank you for the heads up on that - I cannot deal with that.

As far as I'm concerned, they did do that - Enterprise. Archer was shown pretty clearly to be not just untried and overly eager, but on several occasions, not a very good captain at all.
