Translation: “I may be a racist shit, but your grammar is not perfect”

Julianne, happy to discuss the journalistic details of this if you are free.

The statement from CNE about engagement metrics being more focused around the content itself, rather than the personalities flies in the face of their digital strategy around promoting the individuals that make up their test kitchen. It’s 100% a CYA statement to buy them time to figure out how to generate some good

My one experience with Condé Nast was a weird one. I was brought in to interview for some entry level position and met with an editor (I don’t remember what division). After our meeting was done, I was told the publisher wanted to meet with me. I was sent into a big, fancy office where I was promptly told “Forget

I know why a guy might have life circumstances to lead him to knock over a liquor store, but it doesn’t make me happy or support his decision to knock over said liquor store. And by the way, I’m happier with a guy knocking over a liquor store than the poster child of a case turning on that case that has the potential

Collaborating with two black men is not meaningful example of how one views race.

So there are no white women apart from Ariana that sing about sex? There aren’t white women doing the same thing Lana does that she can use to get her point across? It is laughable to think all the black women she mentioned don’t get criticized harshly. Lana, like Alison could have made her point without mentioning

I think it is an influencer’s responsibility to vet the things they promote, at least to some degree. What sets them apart from traditional marketing is mostly the veneer of authenticity that an influencer’s endorsement projects. That illusion of intimacy with their audience also means they’ll get more blowback from

I don’t know why I ever gave this show a chance because it didn’t seem like it was for me at all but I did and what a ride. It’s weird and creepy and BEAUTIFULLY shot. The leads are incredible and the recurring actors (Raúl Esparza, Gillian Anderson, Eddie Izzard, Michael Pitt, everyone) are a treat whenever they show

Imagine admitting to taking advantage of men that couldn’t consent (there’s a word for that, hmm...), and then telling me to ignore what people did 30 years ago because “it was a different time”.

And I don’t even think she was describing depression as beautiful but the intensive sensitivity to the world that may have been the locus of it.

Exactly.  There’s a big difference between “these crystals will cure your depression” and “I’ve learned to live with my depression in a way I can experience as beautiful.” For her to describe the latter is not a personal attack on people who don’t share her experience, but this article sure feels like a personal

Again, it's not about white people's intentions. Think of it this way; if you were trying to explain misogyny to a man and he kept interrupting you to explain how nonsexist he was, saying #notallmenz. That's what "good white people" do to black people. That's what you did in reaction to this excellent and extremely

Would you have said the same thing to the white Mississippi freedom riders?

Either you have zero reading comprehension skills or you are 100% just reaching for something to be offended by at this point. I suspect its the latter and it's actually a little embarrassing to read.

I think you may have missed the point: "good white people" are those who believe their good intentions trump the effects of their biases on black people's experiences. You are being defensive and seem to be asking for credit for not being consciously racist.

But every single thing you've posted has done nothing except try to make this about you and your contributions to good whiteness. I mean that in the royal sense too. And, yes, I would've said the same things to all of those people, because the death of Matthew Shepard was not about straight people. It's not that hard

Did you even read this? Nobody is asking you to apologize. This isn't about you. The fact that you managed to be offended by this piece is a testament to just how much you don't get it.

You have some work to do. If you think kindness is the limit of what is needed to stop mass death of Black teenagers, you have some work to do. If you think the primary meaning of this essay was that you should apologize for something, or was even about white people, you have some work to do. If you don't understand

It's not always about you.
