I understand that no one has a right to my body besides me, on-set or off
American Horror Story: Dark Side of Glee. Written and Directed by Ryan Murphy
Hey Editorial, can we edit that “freelance” part out of her bio and get her a job around these parts?
I spent a lot of time wishing my abusive ex husband had followed through with one of his countless suicide threats. That’s been a hard feeling to reconcile with my generally peaceful, happy nature, but I finally accepted that I’m not wrong for wishing he’d been removed from my life sooner, no matter how it was…
You have to deny your experience while reporting it lest you get labeled “the vindictive ex”. Because bitches be crazy liars, amirite?
I hate that we are socialized to say “I don’t wish him harm” when coming out with stories of abuse. If you don’t, great, do you. But women shouldn’t be pressured to prove a “pure” motive for sharing their experiences. You're allowed to wish that the person who raped you get hit by a bus.
Very true. It just always seems odd to me that when men are violent they seem to be held accountable except when it comes to some crimes against women. Then they’re let off the hook and the woman gets the blame. It seems like women get more sympathy when they report that their purse got stolen than when they report…
A man. They tend to be violent towards women.
A friend of mine said she woukd never date ugly dudes because you could never be beautiful enough for them.
He looks like he smells like cigarettes and old spice.
My ex once told me “How can you be angry about things I do with other people when you aren’t there?”
Yep. I've worked in the progressive movement for almost 15 years, and there's a ton of misogyny and chauvinism that goes on, and not nearly enough done about it.
At this point, it seems you are more likely to be raped by a male feminist than an MRA.
I genuinely believe a lot of men/boys put “what I do” and rape into two different categories. Their idea of rape is so narrow that it’s easy to avoid wearing a ski mask and jumping a stranger in a dark alley. So whatever they’re doing isn’t rape! Add that to the whole cultural mix where we treat women’s bodies as…
The porn industry seems to have responded better and quicker to this than basically any other industry where similar allegations have come forward. I see that as a very positive thing.
You forgot “you basically consented by not yelling no right away into his face, the way you would in a 1997 sex ed video.”
It took me months and months and months,” she told The Guardian, “over a year of months to be able to be able to call it what it was – which was rape.”
Why would they want to? Why would they need to? In a lot of these situations, the legal process would be long, exhausting, and probably completely demoralizing. The women coming forward are adult film actresses; surely one can imagine how that information would be used in court. If the end goal is just to raise…
I agree with you that the movie had problematic, paternalistic overtones. Still, I don’t think women (or anyone for that matter) have to be weak to be exploited. I didn’t come away from watchings HOT GIRLS WANTED thinking the women in it were weak in any way. I did think they were often being exploited.
