This feels like the Goldbergs and Blackish had a baby. I like this baby. I've never watched the Middle and we watch Modern Family out of habit now :/

Here's the thing. There are a lot of people that will look at Modern Family...but won't give Black-ish, or Fresh Off the Boat a look. And sadly, some of them might benefit from checking those shows out.

You should watch Transparent on Amazon Prime. I recommended it to my mom, who has zero interest in LGBT issues, but I think it's such a good family show about what happens to the family dynamic when the kids grow up and the parents get older.

I'm going to be honest, my TV watching this season has been spotty at best, but from what I've seen you may be right. Still, seeing blue collar, economically disadvantaged families in prime time is a rarity and for that I salute it.

Watching The Middle and then Modern Family will give you class whiplash. And I enjoy both shows.

I find The Middle to be one of the few shows on TV that features a truly economically struggling Roseanne-style family. It's The Goldbergs mash up of 80's tropes I can't deal with.
