I'm With Her

This is great! Will dive into this tonight!! Thanks for the deep dive!

Who else saw Love and Mercy? My gosh, I cried a lot at the end and I don't do that a lot. I tend towards the opinion that the truth about the issues between Brian Wilson and Mike Love lies between their narratives, but boy, Wilson is more interesting and the backbone of their legacy.

I still wish more GD material ended up like their two classic albums, Workingman's Dead and American Beauty. I'm still a fair Dead beginner fan after being worn down by my dad's fandom, but "folky jam band" is pretty correct.

American Graffiti has an amazing soundtrack.

What about "Gimme a Break" in the 80s as well?

That look out the window made me very sad.

YES PLEASE

This was lovely. Good on Leto and RIP Chester.

Derf is a nickname; his real first name is John.

I don't think he is; I read it last year or so and I felt confused at that.

I was interested in the film adaptation after reading the graphic novel but you're right. I feel like it would feel "better" if it was from the perspective of the Derf character rather than the camera following around Dahmer. But then, a lot of the novel did show Dahmer alone or without his friend group.

True, if any current musician can come back from a break, it's her. The third album isn't my favorite of hers, but people will still climb over each other to get tickets or actually buy her work in two years. And 121 dates is a lot!! Too bad they couldn't schedule Wembley earlier.

Yeah, that was also terribly sad. Awful.

Sometimes we get told, "oh, you don't need that" or "that's what I'm here for." I think a lot of people still see therapy as the last resort here in the US. Plus, insurance and mental health help is complicated.

At least she works in Old Hollywood quite a bit! I especially liked the historical explanation of the "It" girl in her article on Jennifer Lawrence.

Yeah, don't make me feel any older, AV Club!

I've seen this "diet" elsewhere in the last year and it's creepy. I also hate the 5:2 diet. Fasting to lose weight is a good way for your body to stubbornly hold on to weight, I think—starvation mode, right?

Yep, "mid-level marketing" but definitely more like a pyramid scheme. I've just unfollowed anyone who does that.

Ugh, I like Cameron Diaz and Nicole Richie (the latter especially on Great News), but they ought to stay away from the weirdness that is Goop.

I'd actually watch that show if she were on it.
