Yeah, Atticus pretty much proves Tom Robinson is innocent but the jury still convicts Tom and he goes to jail, where he is shot trying to escape. But it’s still a story about racism that’s from the POV of white people, with a white hero (on top of being boring as shit).

They still teach this boring-ass white savior book in schools? I remember reading this as a kid for school and wondering why Atticus never got a cross burned on his lawn for defending a black man accused of rape in the 1930s South.
