FWIW my wife is a Director of Admissions at a private school here in LA, and no matter how great or prepared the kid is, the recommendation is always to wait. We did it with our kids in fact (June birthday even - started K when she was 6).  There is no downside to waiting at all, only upside.

As mentioned the article, there are already numerous solutions to the problem of not being able to tie shoes (for whatever reason, disability or otherwise). Slip-ons and velcro come immediately to mind.  Spending 400 bucks for shoes that need to be charged is not something being produced in the name of accessibility.

The interesting thing here is that if you enrolled in a private school, they would almost certainly tell you (read:force you) to wait until the kid is 6 (or about to turn 6) since it gives them an advantage.

Wow, he’s balder than I thought.

I’ve lived in LA and/or OC for almost all of my life. I’ve owned about 20 motorcycles and plenty of sports cars from AMGs to 911s. I’ve had aftermarket (or sport exhaust options) on every one of them and never have I been hassled.

Buy a 996, even a 997.1 in that price range. It’s an actual “exotic” and will appreciate in a quick window as well. Plus it’ll actually be reliable and great to drive.

I only really watch the lakers (live in LA) but I feel like I’ve seen tons of great fast breaks from them that look very much like the old school breaks.  Probably because they can’t hit a 3 so they don’t do that warriors fast break into a 3 thing.

I’ll help you then:

No you don’t. You can get a GT3 for 145k, which is right about the same as this car. In terms of actual laps times, in the 2 head to head tests I’ve seen between the GT3 and the ZR1, there was less than a 2 second lap time difference. Sure, that’s a lot for a professional race team, almost nothing for an average joe.

One could argue that the Zr1 is nowhere near the same class of car as that base 911 because of its interior as well. But that’s not the point.

Now playing

Anywhere near as fast? Please, it’s not that far off. That test has already been done. And that track is Willow Springs which is very much a HP track so it should be in the ZR1's favor.

But it’s not as nice as $95k cars, which is the problem. You buy ANY 911, even the very cheapest model, and it’s light years nicer than this.

A 991.2 GT3 can be had for 145k so...

No, but the interior of that $90k Porsche base 911 is much better than the $140k ZR1.

They did sell them, it’s in the story above.

Must be two episodes. The episode I’m referring to is the original L&O, not SVU and entitled “Grief.

I haven’t driven a Pista but i have driven a 458 and there are many levels of nanny interference before “off.”  And at those settings, the car is still plenty lively and willing to kick out the rear and do all the fun things you would want to.  It’s not as simple as “all on” or “all off.”

So don’t turn the nannies off then.  That was a pretty easy problem to solve.

But isn’t it about driving one?  You’ve driven 911s and I assume you’ve driven a MKIV Supra.  They’re great cars and all, but I’d choose the 911 every day and twice on Sunday.  There is nothing that the Supra does better and IMO it’s not as beautiful a car either.

There was a Law & Order episode about this about 20 years ago. If that is any indication, the mother of the woman in the vegatative state paid a man to impregnate her so she could have a grandchild.
