OK, now I understand why this item is showing up in Kotaku rather than AVClub. I only know Kitano as a world renown filmmaker, actor and star of the most recent version of the Zatoichi the Blind Swordsman film series.

In Modine’s defense he was sexually exploited by an older woman when he was a high school wrestler and further traumatized by two stints in Vietnam.
No I get it, privileged people are vacuuming up all the cool jobs that used to allow people from more modest backgrounds entry : even newscasters are children of people of means now.
Famous for her breakthrough role as the child of famous parents
Yes, the treatment VP Harris is receiving is not fair, but this is what politics is like in the 21st century, especially for a woman, and even more so for a woman who is a POC. The harassment should not make us miss the fact that she is a mediocre politician at best. Obama, Staci Abrams, AOC, even Pete Buttiegeg have …
Nah, I’m pretty sure he’s lying beneath a tombstone with the epitaph “Yes, this is Ted Baxter’s fault.”
An entire Phase of movies with the bad guys winning?
I expect Disney to use the Avengers monicker, I’m talking about the composition of the team carrying it, as in unquestionably heroic adults as opposed to young heroes in training or outright villains.
Not only was Newton the first black woman to have significant role in a Star Wars film, she brought ambiguities and qualities to the part that made the character more than what was in the script. I had the feeling Newton could handle Harrelson’s gang as well as he could. And as loyal as she seemed, there was also a…
He was brilliant in Hail Caesar. I can understand why he and his management thought playing Han was worth the risk, but he might have been better off doing more arthouse and indies than popping into a big franchise role where he had little to no say on how the character was portrayed.
I hope its awhile before we have another group of good guy Avengers. I wouldn’t mind having a Dark Avengers or Thunderbirds, as well as a Young Avengers. In pro wrestling terms its a “heel” / “face” thing. We’ve had a long good guy — face— run with the original Avengers. Nothing torturously satisfying than to follow…
For sure, but when you hire someone who builds something called the Spider-Slayer, you are getting pretty close to crossing the line to villain. Though, unlike this Alex Jones-wannabe, he was never close to being a bigot.
Valid, I forgot about that timeline. But, though Doctor Strange hasn’t discovered magic, there is already Sanctums in NY and around the globe. No Spider-man yet but presumably there other people with special abilities or tech like the Pyms and Bill Foster, Iron Fists and other people with semi- mystical martial…
Good points, except is Loki really a non-magical threat? I don’t think he would be content to rule like a human dictator and would likely try to control magic and involve himself in the affairs of other realms and dimensions. Nothing about Loki suggests that he would be satisfied with just a terrestrial kingdom. Which…
Spider-Man: No Way Home promises to be a villain fest, but who from Spidey’s past will make the cut?
I resent the idea of calling J Jonah Jameson a villain… his character is a lot more complex than that.
* I guessed the killer was one of the Pyms, but I really wanted the Wakandans to be prime suspects too. What if, instead of killing his brother, T’Chaka had ordered him to infiltrate Shield, Hydra and/or Pym’s company? He could have access to Fury’s plans, Hydra’s plans and Pym’s tech. What’s more dangerous to Wakanda…
I think Bialik’s statements on vaccination and C sections read as disingenuous and carefully worded to allow her plausible deniability on views she somewhat or fully endorses. Granted that is a subjective take, but I don’t see the article as misrepresenting Bialik’s intent as much as seeing through it.
Stark had a need to be liked, but only on his terms. He charmed, teased and negged people like a pick up artist. If things got emotional and he felt vulnerable, however, Stark was very quick to rebuff them.
You know, he’s something of a scientist himself, now that I think about it.
