I knew Agatha killed Sparky! A dog-killing, child-snatching villain is far scarier than Thanos.

Being fully bingable didn’t seem to harm Queen’s Gambit or Bridgerton at all, but WandaVision (and The Mandalorian) are demonstrating that there is much more value to weekly episodic releases than merely being anchor points for advertising. It’s funny that streaming services have been relearning the lessons gleaned

Additional thought on Cole Young: as noted, Cole Younger was a member the James/Younger Gang, a group of Old West outlaws composed of two families who eventually went separate ways. If Cole Young is, as rumored, Scorpion’s descendent, his name may be an allusion to the fact that Scorpion and Sub-Zero were once allies

Claudia is not grifting, or at least nothing in her current situation requires her to be calculating at all. She has a dysfunctional relationship with her parents and like most teenagers in this era she is constantly sharing her life (or her version of it ) on social media. And as with many teenage girls she has (proba

No idea except that the screenwriter thought it sounded like a cool hero name. Seems derivative of the outlaw name Cole Younger (member of the Jesse James gang).

Great article, but I now have an irresistible urge to light up a Lucky Strike!

I agree that making Tan more like Cage — or actually play Cage — seems like a better choice. I don’t think the trailer is bad — it’s truer to its franchise than most video game movies — but its surpassed by the in game videos in the last MK game.

Lewis Tan, the guy playing the protagonist, is Asian American (he may be biracial). He was probably picked because he’s a martial arts stunt performer as well as an actor. His best work imo was an episode of Iron Fist where he played a Drunken Master and stole his scenes with the lead (perhaps not a high bar). But

Thank you, Monica, for articulating the cruelty Tessica Brown is receiving. I’ll admit I’m not much better than most of these people. Watching her original post, I started to laugh as she described her situation. But the laughing stopped as Brown started to tear up, and I realized I was looking at a very distressed

I think they established Yara’s personality: headstrong, brash, short tempered, reckless, but also essentially compassionate and noble. She is willing to bend rules — stealing, bullying the governor — but usually in service of helping a friend or protecting the downtrodden.

Stevens was great in Legion and Eurovision too.

Among other things, it sure would be nice to see an actor of Thai heritage perform the role, for once

Slightly off topic, but there is a banner ad for the CIA (as in not the Culinary Institute) above this article. I guess I would rather have them recruiting on this black site than torturing people in others.

Check the locks on his apartment door. This story made me think immediately of Berlin Syndrome.

Based upon the comic, I think the most apt TV template for Yara Flor would be a modern take on  Xena, Warrior Princess, not a CW Arrowverse show. Yara is a warrior with a Robin Hood ethos — make your own rules, fight for the downtrodden — who frequently faces mythical foes. Legends of Tomorrow is the closest show the

I could take or leave most of Future State, but Yara Flor is a lot of fun.

It’s always possible that the MCU could adapt an aspect of that concept, but they tend not to copy comic book events exactly. Civil War in the comics, for example,  was very different from Civil War in the MCU.

I don’t think the MCU’s version of the Thunderbolts will have to pretend to be the original Avengers. Instead, they are likely to position themselves as a better, safer team that is more answerable to world governments.

Both Two and a Half Men and Arrested Development are sitcoms specifically about families — the Harpers and Bluths respectively. If you are defining “family sitcoms” as purely about a married couple with kids, I suppose they don’t strictly fit that criteria. But they are variants on the family sitcom tradition

Hayward as Micheal kinda makes sense.
