I’m only worried about them removing blood splatter, because it’s not just a cosmetic change. Many times I followed an injured enemy blood trail or got to know where a friend was shot from by seeing the bloodsplatter on the wall.

It’s hard to claim that Blizzard isn’t trying to tell a story in-game though.  There are allusions to the story in the level and character designs, and it’s kind of ridiculous to separate the game from its story-driven marketing campaigns.
