Perhaps, you never know what may happen in this day and age. But changes are that if GM is involved they’ll screw it up some how by telling the consumer what they want instead of actually paying attention to what they want. 

When these cars were new, I thought the Sky looked way better. Now days for some reason I like the Solstice better. Either would be a cool car to have in the garage for weekend cruising for sure. I just missed out on a deal on a low miles mint condition Solstice GXP (that actually had a manual) last fall.

The SX is top spec, but when you fully load both they come in very close. The EX has LED fog lights and I think either LED of HID headlights as well in addition to the 2.0T motor, so the SX would be a bit more just for those options.

My mother-in-law has one of these and at least for me, those pillars are a non-issue. My biggest issue is that she went with a loaded EX that actually ended up costing more than an SX the dealer had, but she went with it because she liked the color better..... It’s one of those things you don’t really think about until something happens... In both cases, yah, the struts may have been a bit weak but not something that made it obvious they weren’t going to hold the hood up. Especially when you’re under there for an hour then all of a sudden BAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!!!!!!!!!

When its a 15yr old VW Passat or a 17yr old Silverado.... the hood strut is the least of the concerns these guys had with their vehicles, haha.
