Weirdly enough, the most reliable car I’ve owned has been an 03 Cavalier. 275,000 mostly trouble free miles. This was built in an era that GM was struggling and the Cavalier was running long in the tooth and was at the bottom of the lineup.

I’m going with the Jeep Cherokee XJ. Although I will admit that most parts were stamped AMC even on my ‘94. The only Pentastar was on my key. But that key was reliable.
Wow, just wow. I would not want to be your neighbor but you seem like the sort I would be friends with and help with projects. This reminds me of my mechanic. He works on my vehicles when I don’t want to or don’t have the time. Everytime I go to his shop I just want to help him organize and clean and basically save…
“Internal components are like wieners: wrap them up for protection’s sake, please. Otherwise, you’re gonna get dirt, bugs, rust, and who knows what the heck else in there that’ll just make life harder later.”
I immediately went to the interwebs to check the weight of a bus. 35,000 pound curb weight. I then thought damn people in Arkansas are heavy!
Stupidity mostly. :)
Also grew up near Chicago and only heard it once. Must be a thing elsewhere.
I’m ranking this as the best advice I’ve received all week. This is spot on!
Most likely going to replace the wife’s car this week. The cost to repair matches the trade in value and will pay for a year’s worth of payments.
Tears were shed when I finally sent my truck away on a flatbed. I owned that truck for 23 years. Two years later I still regret my decision.
This is possibly the saddest thing I’ve read all week. Talk about stuck in his “glory days”.
Totally thought this was something just in my area. I knew someone in high school that called it perdiddle and I have not heard it since. I turned to my wife and asked her since she grew up in a different state and and confirmed it’s a thing everywhere. Huh, you think you know someone after 15 years and they surprise…
Must find that shirt now. Especially since both vehicles lights just came back on. Either I didn't fix the issue out I have a new issue.
That’s the one. My dad had a silver 2wd when I was a kid. Classic styling.
But right now if you order 2 Pixel 3s from Project Fj you'll get $800 in credits. Unfortunately, my Nexus 5x went into boot loop a few months ago and I upgraded to a Pixel 2. I don't know that I see enough features that I care about to pay the $800. But if I didn't already upgrade, I would buy it. Hopefully, my 2 will…
My neighbor was selling their S10 for only $1500 and it was around 120k miles. Ran fine just leaks a little oil. I almost jumped on that just to have a pick up around.
15 year old Chevy here. I need to replace all four corners with new pads, rotors, and calipers and it’ll only cost me $350 and I’ll have a perfectly running and stopping car again. Not worth getting rid of for the price I’d get. It’s only gonna cost $350 because I’m using higher end parts. Pick cars that are reliable…
And done!! Seriously, I think if they expand their search to include Honda, Hyundai, Kia, GM, or Ford they will find something in no time. When I look for a car I look for reliability but I also look at cost on how easy it is to fix. Buicks, Impalas, Cruzes, Escapes, Fusions, etc... None of these will give you much…
Good point. You got me there. Funny enough I think my sensor was a Bosch. But the same Bosch sensor for a VW or Audi would probably cost as much as a new transmission for my Dodge.
Lol, no but it broke down every 93 miles. It was a turbo 5 speed so not all bad.
