David Price has been in the majors for 10 seasons. He has been a full time starter for 8 of them He’s thrown 1737 innings in that time.

Given that Eck had 17 CGs in 1979 while throwing only 14 more innings than Price did last year, I would vociferously argue that it was NOT rougher to be a starting pitcher back then as opposed to today.
