I kind of like the Will and Kate photos. Kate is so freaking thin that ruffles or anything else that softens her skeletal look are a good choice, IMO.

British social hierarchy still puts “never having to work” as the desired endgoal. So if you’re born and can live off an inheritance it’s a sign your family is worth something.

I’m struck by how similar the public presentation of Kate & Ivanka is. The polished photos, the nods to causes, the careful use of their children as props at this stage, etc.

Bizarre how her mother was made fun of when she started a company that made an absolute fortune (not even close to an easy task) while the people ridiculing her had everything handed to them from the outset and some generations at that.

Kate ticks all the same boxes that made women appealing to the masses two centuries ago. She never complains. She always makes sure to look her best. She rigorously watches her weight. She makes sure she does whatever the Firm tells her to with a smile. She ignored the philandering before and after her marriage. …

And that’s just the stuff they have out on display! Imagine what they’ve got in their archives.

I’m not Catholic and had the same reaction in the Vatican. Their art collection surpassed that of any museum to which I had ever been. Gold gilding, everywhere; luxurious doesn’t begin to cover it. Perhaps usurious would.

My grandad, a hugely devout Catholic, mass everyday, having the father over for dinner once a week, was sent to Italy during WWII. He never returned to church again after visiting the Vatican. They had so much wealth and used none of it to help the victims of the war. They hoarded it and continue to hoard it.

You are. The church doesn’t care about child sexual abuse whether it’s from clergy or someone else.

Are they icing out anyone in the Italian government? How about the Irish government? How about Poland, Mexico, or Portugal? And on the flip side, are any Catholic governor being iced out because they don’t categorically grant clemency from capital punishment to prisoners? Are they going to ice out Catholic prosecutors…
