Yeah, I'm never gonna try this.....at least in my current car. It's slow and it's got a shift ring lockout, so I have to squeeze the shift ring and reverse is the same place as first gear. I'd feel more comfortable doing this with a car that had reverse gear on the bottom right like most stick shifts.

Does this work with front wheel drive cars or only rear wheel drive? Also, does automatic vs. stick matter?
