I’m not a fan of Madonna’s by any stretch of the imagination, but is it as simple as that? It certainly seemed in the 80s and 90s that she was doing new stuff with respect to pop music, and her persona was interesting.

I was just arguing about this with some friends. Mind you, I’m over 40 and this was a completely 16-year-old conversation.
